JSA5 is one of two new acoustic signature models made for Joe Satriani. These are Joe`s first acoustic models and both have made their debut at the 2013 NAMM show. JSA5 is largely similar to the JSA20. Aesthetically, these two resemble pretty much, with the differences being hidden beneath the paint. Instead of JSA20`s rosewood, JSA5 uses mahogany back and sides. Sound boards on both models are made of spruce. All tonewoods on these gorgeous acoustics are solid. As for the body contour which graces both bodies, Ibanez has dubbed it JSA. Both models come with single cutaway, abalone binding and abalone sound hole rosettes. Vintage Burst is the only color scheme available for this series and both models are finished in gloss. Electronics include a Fishman Sonicore pickup and Fishman Presys preamp. Matrix pickup and Aura preamp are used on the JSA20 model. Neck is made of mahogany and it`s attached to the body with a dovetail joint. Fingerboard on top of the JSA5 is made of ebony and it`s matched with an ebony bridge. Grover tuners, TUSQ nut and 25-5/8" scale complete the specs list.
