SRC6 is one of four SR series novelties which were chosen for the initial lineup of the Ibanez Bass Workshop range. This probably the smallest ever commercially built six-string bass, as it`s scale dials in at exactly 30". Despite it`s short scale, this remarkable six-stringer packs an enormous punch. Entire body is made of mahogany, there is no decorative top cover. It is paired with a combined jatoba/bubinga neck (both tonewoods are African and their purpose is to balance out the super heavy low end of mahogany). There is only one color option available for this rather unusual six-string bass, the Walnut Flat. It is finished in matte and is fit with black hardware. Tight End bridge is fit with six adjustable saddles and is fronted by a pair of passive EMG HZ-35 humbuckers. These pickups have enough power to cut through any mix. Jatoba and bubinga is a very common combination for Ibanez bass necks (especially on upscale models). On it`s top, there is the series standard 24-fret fingerboard made of rosewood.

I have been looking into the Fender Bass VI and Schechter offerings in the realm, but when I saw this and heard the demo videos and went ahead and ordered one...I was not disappointed. Whether I am playing the Cure, Surf, and just playing bass; the short scale combined with the spacing and fast neck this thing is awesome for fast fingering! I am also amazed by the tone flexibility, both through my SWR Redhead or Randal 212 amp, it can really give you many sounds...the big improvement over the Fenders is the low E sounds balanced and full, not muddy or thin.

The Music Den in Randolph, N.J. was the store where the defective instrument was purchased. They tried to intimidate me with attitude when I returned the SRC6. They tried to charge me a 10% restocking fee instead of apologizing!!!
