Simon Gallup, The Cure`s bassist in cooperation with Schecter Guitar Research releases his own signature bass. For starters, the Ultra shape was elected and made of mahogany with a raised center. The top on this model features no bindings, but has a matte black pickguard. This solid-bodied model comes in two colors, white and black, both with gloss finishes and Simon`s custom graphics on the top. The graphics are done in blood-red color and feature simple drawings of a rose, stabbed heart, airplane and a large 1979 number around the bridge area. The bridge compartment is equipped with, somewhat unusual for a bass, a combo of tune-o-matic bridge and a stoptail bar.They are both chrome plated. The pickups on this model are EMG TBhz custom passive soapbars in both bridge and middle positions. They are managed and controlled through master tone and split volume controls. The neck is made of multiple laminates of maple and walnut and features a neck-through joint with ultra-access cutaway. The fingerboard is made of rosewood and it sports 22 medium frets with white dot position inlays. Other features on Simon Gallup Ultra Bass include: Chrome plated hardware, 34" scale and Grover bass tuning machines.
