Synapse is the second of two series of solid-bodied electric basses in Steinberger catalog. In this series, Steinberger further develops the concept featured in the classic Spirit series. Solid and trapezoid bodies now have a single cutaway, instead of non-cutaway designed introduced in Spirit line. XS-1FPA is the series basic model and it comes with a solid, single-cut Spirit body made of maple in it`s entirety. As opposed to neck-through-body construction on Spirit series models, Synapse Collection models have set in necks. On the top, things remain pretty much the same, as Steinberger treats the Synapse models with the standard bridges with tuners in the back and a standard pair of active humbucking pickups in the front. Maple neck is set in and topped with a 24-fret phenolic fingerboard.
