Dean Thoroughbred Stealth Black Satin

Thoroughbred Electric Guitars by Dean
Dean Thoroughbred series is Dean`s response to the ever more growing market of metal oriented guitars based on the classic Les Paul design. Primarily, Ibanez Artist and ESP Eclipse are it`s main opponents. Thoroughbreds oppose this competition with their own traditional qualities, and they are all-mahogany construction, American quality of build, supreme playability and mind blowing tone. The latest model in the series is the Thoroughbred Stealth Black Satin. It comes with a solid, single-cut body made of mahogany back and maple top. This combo was adopted back in he 1970s and has remained unchanged for the core models of the Dean catalog. Even before Dean, Gibson used it on their Les Paul models. This stealth has also retained one more classic Dean feature and that`s 24-3/4" scale. Instead of following the trends and adopting the 25-1/2" scale, Dean Guitars remain faithful to their roots. Color palette is restricted to the Black Satin color scheme with black hardware and satin finish. On top of the carved and bound body, Dean installs the classic two-piece bridge section made up of the tune-o-matic bridge in the front and a stoptail bar behind it. In the front, Dean installs the most notorious pair of active humbuckers to ever rock the world, the 81 and 85. These EMGs have proven over the decades that they`re much more than just pickups, they proved to be an institution, for the sound of the 1980s metal and hard rock was formed on them. Classic controls layout includes two volume knobs, two tone knobs and a three-way toggle pickup switch. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and it features the smooth and cool C contour in the back. It is an intermediate shape, balancing between the vintage fat and ultra modern flat necks. It offers a good grip in every position, but it does not slow the left hand down. It`s perfect for the fans of both styles. On it`s top, there is a 22-fret ebony fingerboard. Standard-sized frets are decorate with a set of gorgeous block inlays which really pop out in this all-black environment. 1-11/16" wide string nut completes the fingerboard. Headstock of this potent six-stringer is bound in white and is equipped with a set of six black Grover tuners. They`re arranged in the classic 3+3 pattern.
