1958 Korina Explorer is Epiphone`s variant of the 1958 Explorer made by Gibson. This one comes with a solid, Explorer-shaped body made of mahogany. Korina is not used for the Epiphone variant, it`s reserved for Gibson USA and Custom brands. Nevertheless, Mahogany body gives good and strong tone to this guitar. Pickups are Alnico Classics, which have decent sustain and a pretty good tone, but are really no match for Gibson`s PAF pickups. Bridge section is made up of a tune-o-matic bridge with strings running through the body behind it. Bridge screws are a bit thinner than on Gibson models. Neck is made of mahogany, as well and it`s equipped with a standard Explorer contour in the back. On top, it features a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. Frets are medium size and have dot markers. Tuners are Grovers.
