Introduced in the early 1960s, Firebird was a less extreme and less pointy variant of the 1957 Explorer model. Since the line of futuristic models introduced in late 1950s was an initial failure, Gibson reached for a more traditional and curvier design. Thus the Firebird was born. This, current Firebird Studio comes with a solid, flat body made of mahogany. It is paired with a neck also made of mahogany through a set-in joint. Body is only covered with a classic pickguard and finished in gloss. Bridge section is made up of a tune-o-matic bridge and stoptail bar in the back. Pair of active Alnico Classic humbuckers gives a distinctive tone to this Firebird. Mahogany neck features a standard slim contour and it`s topped with a 22-fret fingerboard made of rosewood.
