Les Paul has been envisioned to be a "black tie" guitar, to be elegant and rich in both tone and appearance. Top variants of early Les Paul models were painted black and finished in elegant gloss. But, along the way one other finish reached unbelievable popularity, that it eventually became a separate model. It is the famous Goldtop. This model is a tribute to the famous 1956 Goldtop Les Paul. It comes with a solid, single-cut body made of mahogany base and mahogany top. Top is bound and finished in clear gloss. Tune-o-matic bridge and stoptail bar are fronted with a pair of active P-90 pickups. These are single coils and they also feature a standard LP controls unit. Set mahogany neck has '50s contour. 22-fret fingerboard is made of rosewood.

These are pretty good guitars and have great P90 sound. One thing about Epi's, and my goldtop was no exception, there seems to be a 50/50 chance that the guitar will have issues. My goldtop had neck issues and would produce muted notes at around the 5th fret; also had some corrosion with some of the frets. My advice: GO TO A STORE AND LOOK AT ONE. Play it and inspect the quality. That would be the only thing I would advise. Otherwise good guitar for the money.
