LTD`s 400 tier is designed to take on the best and strongest intermediate class guitars and basses on the market and 2015 catalog brings a whole bunch of new 400s. Apart from the regular 400 and 407 models, special attention must be paid to the ingenious 401 axes which are, thus far, the best answer to the Ibanez Iron Label six-strings. The special thing about the 401s is that they all pack EMG humbuckers instead of the Duncans, DiMarzios and other options seen on the regular 400s. LTD EC-401 is one of many 401s introduced at 2015 NAMM and it comes with all-mahogany base, EMG canons in the pickups department and seriously high level of build quality. Solid and single-cut Eclipse body is made entirely of mahogany (yes, both the base and the carved top are made of mahogany), as is the set in neck. Classic two-piece bridge unit is featured on the top. In its front, EMG 81 occupies the bridge position, while the 60 kicks in, instead of the more popular 85. The end result is a bit hotter and bit more aggressive tone more fit for rhythm duties and lead players who like it hot, raw and trebly. Set mahogany neck rocks the tested and tried thin U profile in the back and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard on the top. Flag inlays, 1.65" wide molded nut and extra jumbo frets complete the fingerboard. Grover tuners on the headstock provide the exceptional tuning stability for even the most aggressive benders and pickers out there. All-mahogany construction, mighty EMG electronics, high construction quality and hallmark ESP playability make this smokin`-hot six-shooter the ultimate intermediate class axe.
