Solid mahogany bodies can be quite heavy, especially the thick ones and Gibson resorted to chambered bodies to both ease the burden on player`s shoulders and to improve the tone of their guitars. Chambered 1958 Les Paul Reissue VOS is one of those models. It features a chambered body made of mahogany back and flamed maple top. Top is carved, bound in creme binding and finished in high gloss. Bridge section is made up of two components: tune-o-matic bridge and the stoptail bar in the back. A pair of active humbuckers with standard controls unit is installed in front of them. Neck is made of mahogany and it features vintage-styled `50s contour in the back. Rosewood fingerboard is equipped with 22 frets, acrylic trapezoid inlays and 1-11/16" wide string nut.
