Back in 1958 Gibson introduced the legendary Sunburst finish and changed the game forever. Original Seth Lover`s PAF pickups were inherited from the 1957 Goldtop and the classic Les Paul was born. 1958 LP remains the fan favorite almost sixty years after its introduction. Mark Knopfler 1958 Les Paul Standard Aged & Signed is a faithful recreation of Mark`s own beloved 1958. There`s also a VOS version which costs $5,099, while this one will set you back staggering $10,999. Knopfler `Burst Aged is the name of the color scheme; it features aged creme binding and hand-aged nitrocellulose lacquer. Main tonewood, hardware and electronics appointments include a one-piece mahogany body (no weight relief), two-piece flamed maple top, one-piece mahogany neck (original profile, hot hide glue construction), one-piece fingerboard, custom-wound pickups (AlNiCo III Custom Buckers) and hand-aged hardware and plastics.
