Back in 1958 Gibson had introduced the futuristic flat-top series (Explorer, Flying V, Moderne), and the "Burst" finish for Les Paul Standard models (Custom models were still available only in Ebony). All LP models continued to utilize the now legendary "Patent Applied For" dual-coil pickups designed by Seth Lover. True Historic 1958 Les Paul Reissue is the most precise and faithful recreation of the cult LP to this day. True Historic treatment and original sunburst finishes are raising the game to a whole new level. Vintage Dark Burst, Vintage Cherry Sunburst and Vintage Lemon Burst (regular and Aged) are available options, and all cost $6,899. Main features (regardless of the color option) include one-piece mahogany body, two-piece maple top (w creme binding and classic pickguard), one-piece mahogany neck (historically correct profile), one-piece rosewood fingerboard, Custom Bucker (AlNiCo III) pickups and nickel-plated hardware.
