1958 was the inaugural year of the "burst" finish for Les Paul. Up until then, Goldtop and Ebony were the only ones, gracing the Standard and Custom models, respectively. Bursts completed the classic Les Paul color palette and changed the game for good. Standard Historic 1958 Les Paul Standard comes in staggering twelve color options - six regular and six in VOS finish. Bourbon Burst, Faded Tobacco Burst, Ice Tea, Lemon Burst, Sunrise Tea Burst and Washed Cherry comprise the color palette. All come with the price tag of $4,469, making this one of the most affordable Gibson Custom models. Some of the most prominent features include a one-piece mahogany body, bookmatched flame maple top, Custom Bucker (custom wound AlNiCo III) pickups, one-piece mahogany neck (50s profile, mortise & tenon joint), one-piece rosewood fingerboard and nickel-plated hardware.
