SG Standard is Gibson`s longest continually produced solid-body model. It was introduced back in 1961, as the new Les Paul Solid Guitar, though it was soon renamed into just SG. Les Paul, Explorer, and V all had breaks, even though they were introduced before the SG. SG standard is, also Gibson`s best-selling solid body guitar. SG Standard Maple Top is a Limited Run model and quite a rare bird, for the SG models are known for the lack of fancy tops and binding. It costs $3,499, which makes it one of the most affordable Custom models. Key construction features include a solid mahogany body base, beveled maple top (2-piece top), solid mahogany neck (w/22-fret rosewood fingerboard), two-piece hardtail bridge unit, AlNiCo III Custombucker pickups, and Kluson tuners.
