Gibson Memphis Electric Guitars by Gibson
The cult ES-225 made it`s debut back in 1956, when it served as an affordable alternative to the expensive Byrdland and ES-350T. It kicked off as a fully hollow guitar with ES-175 body shape and comfortable thin contour. Three years later, Gibson releases the most famous, and by many the very best, incarnation of ES-225. Today, in 2014, Gibson Memphis recreates the 1959 ES-225 down to the smallest detail. It kicks off with a fully hollow maple/poplar body with carved back, thin sides and beautifully carved top with two "f" holes. Vintage Burst with nitrocellulose finish is the only color option available for this model. Vintage-styled Wrap-Over bridge is combined with a classic anchored trapezoid tailpiece. Pair of Memphis Historic Specs P-90 pickups recreates the power, the bite and the tone of the original 1959 ES-225. Split volume and tone knobs and a three-way toggle pickup switch comprise the classic controls unit. Mahogany neck is fit with a 1959 contour and has a hand-picked one-piece rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets on it`s top. Vintage Klusons on the headstock wrap the specs list of this mind-blowing limited edition ES-225. The MSRP is set at $3,299.
