Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes is the newest member of the Gibson signature artist family. He is being admitted into the tribe through the prestigious Gibson Memphis brand, with his Rich Robinson ES-335 being the star of the brand`s lineup in December 2014. Judging by the looks, tone, playability and quality of build, it is to remain so for a long, long time. Rich Robinson`s ES-335 is a semi-hollow guitar with a classic double-cut ES-335 body. This medium-sized ES comes with a carved top, somewhat shallow sides and a carved back. Entire body is made of a triple-layer laminate (a piece of poplar sandwiched between two layers of maple), which aids the already great tonal projection. Creme binding, beautiful "f" holes and a black plastic pickguard decorate the super comfortable body of this magnificent semi. It`s center block is solid, as opposed to the laminated sides, back and top, which further enhances the tonal properties of this savvy six-stringer. Moving on to the bridge section, we can see one of the most popular alternatives to the classic tune-o-matic/stoptail unit, the tune-o-matic/Bigsby vibrato combination with a trapezoid tailpiece. Active Burstbucker Pro 1 in the neck and Burstbucker Pro 2 in the bridge positions are equipped with a classic Gibson controls unit (separate volume and tone knobs, 3-way toggle switch and no push/pull switches). Mahogany neck is made with a maple spline and has a very comfortable mortise & tenon joint heel. On the top of this magnificent neck, Gibson opts for a standard 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with creme binding and block inlays. Vintage Kluson tuners and 24-3/4 scale complete the specs. The MSRP is set at $3,799.
