2016 B.B. King Lucille is one of, if not the most expensive standard issue guitar in Gibson Memphis catalog. It was introduced as part of the 2016 catalog and costs mind-numbing $6,999. This is, quite possibly, the definitive Lucille model. It offers the looks, the tone and the feel of B.B.`s own black-clad beauty. The only thing it doesn`t include is Mr. King`s fretboard wizardry, that`s something every player will have to hone on his/her own. 2016 B.B. King Lucille is a no-bars-held, no-expenses-spared reproduction of the legendary Lucille, B.B. King`s most faithful companion on his life-long journey through the blues. Traditionally, the double-cut body is made of three-ply maple/poplar/maple laminates and, though it is semi-hollow, it has no "f" holes on the top. Another modification characteristic for Mr. King`s Lucille is the use of a three-piece maple neck, instead of a one-piece mahogany. It is C-shaped and topped with a 22-fret richlite fingerboard. Gibson`s 490T and R modern/classic humbuckers are found in bridge and neck positions, respectively. They feature a six-position Varitone switch in addition to the classic Gibson controls unit. Gold-plated bridge, pickup covers and tuners complete the impressive specs list.
