Nighthawk is a special concept in the Gibson`s catalog. It takes the legendary Les Paul as the base and builds a completely new identity and style characteristic for Nighthawk family. Nighthawk bodies feature the single-cut design with deeper cutaway than Les Paul and slimmer waist. Overall, bodies used on Nighthawks are somewhat smaller than regular Less Paul bodies. This 20th anniversary model celebrates twenty years of Nighthawk`s existence on the market. Not just a showpiece, this anniversary six-stringer is one mean machine. Solid body of this Nighthawk is made of mahogany back and maple top. Two color options available for this model come with different top caps. Antique Natural is made with flamed maple top, while the Fireburst features the quilted maple top. Both tops are finished in gloss and bound in standard creme binding. Hardtail bridges are standard for Nighthawk models, instead of the two-piece tune-o-matic/stoptail combos common on Les Paul models. Strings run through the body beneath the bridge. Pickups compartment is equipped with a set of three active pickups. Slanted bridge humbucker is fronted by a middle-position single coil and neck position minibucker. Master volume and tone knobs are featured in the controls unit. Five-position blade switch accompanies them. Push-pull switch on the tone knob splits the bridge humbucker into a single coil pickup. Set in mahogany neck is fit with a rounded back contour and topped with a standard 22-fret fingerboard made of bound rosewood. Gibson tuners, bridge and pickup covers are all plated in gold. 25-1/2" scale is featured on this model, instead of the standard Gibson 24-3/4" scale. MSRP for the 20th Anniversary Nighthawk Standard is set at the reasonable $2,498 for both the Antique Natural and Fireburst options.
