Back in the late `50s, Gibson made a radical and sudden turn in design with the Modernist series. It was a strong and powerful vision of the future of the electric guitar, almost like an omen of the things to come. None of the three models Gibson introduced in 1957 was accepted by very conservative guitar community of the time. A decade has passed and in 1967 Gibson tests the market again with a Flying V and in an instant it becomes a classic and a hallmark of rock`n`roll, youth and rebellion. In 2008, Gibson USA has reissued the 1968 Flying V, the V among all Flying Vs. It has a Worn Cherry-clad mahogany body, set in mahogany neck, two-piece bridge unit, 496R/500T pickups, vintage tuners and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.
