In the last three decades, Les Paul Studio has become one of the staple models in the LP lineup and has garnered praises from both the amateur players and professional musicians. Upon it`s introduction, Studio has changed the game forever, as it was the first affordable Les Paul to be considered a part of the standard Gibson USA lineup of the Les Paul guitars, despite the numerous Junior, Special and Melody Maker models before it. For 2014, Gibson USA has released two Studio models and the Les Paul Studio Pro is one of them. It comes with a solid and single-cut body made of mahogany back and a plain two-piece maple top (figured maple is used on the burst variants). mahogany base of the body is fit with the modern weight relief system, which manages to take away a significant amount of weight without compromising it`s performance. Tone is still as strong and as thick as ever. Maple top comes in two variants. Solid color options (Teal Blue, Black Cherry and Graphite Pearl) come with plain maple tops, while the burst options (Heritage Sunburst Candy, Fireburst Candy and Tobacco Candy) have figured tops. LP Studio Pro has the standard two-piece bridge unit installed on the top. Tune-o-matic bridge is in the front and the stoptail bar in the back. This traditionally top-load bridge system is matched with a set of high performance tuners and together they keep the LP Studio Pro in perfect tuning and intonation. Pickups installed in front of the bridge section are Gibson`s Burstbucker Pro with Alnico V magnets in the bridge and `57 Classic active humbucker in the neck position. The result is the classic meaty tone with thickness and sustain Les Pauls are known for. In addition to the standard variety, these pickups can now be split into single coils via the push/pull switches installed on the control knobs, offering a whole new range of possibilities. Controls unit includes two volume and two tone knobs, as well as a three-way toggle pickup switch. In the new lineup, Studio models are the lowest ones with mahogany necks, instead of maple necks used on Melody maker and other budget-friendly LP variants. `60s Slim Taper contour and the classic mortise & tenon joint are found in the back, while the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard is on the top. The MSRP for the new Les Paul Studio Pro is set at $1,525.
