Single-cut Les Paul made it`s debut in the early 1950s and by the beginning of the next decade, it was one of the best selling guitars in the world. Probably, the peak of it`s glory was achieved with the cult 1959 model, which carried the flag into the turbulent 1960s. 1960s saw the rise of Fender-like flat-top guitars (even the mighty Les Paul was dethroned by the fresh, bold and flat-top SG). As the years passed on by and the love revolution gained it`s momentum, psychedelic rock and hard rock emerged as the leading forces in the popular music. Increasingly heavier music and more and more complex song structures demanded heavier guitars and in the second half of the decade, Les Paul slowly reclaimed it`s throne, on which it sits even today. 2014 Les Paul Peace is made for all the players who consider themselves children of the revolution and who hold the raw and powerful tone of the 1960s hard rock bands in high esteem. Peace is one of the most accurate tributes to the tone and style that defined the 1960s. Solid and single-cut mahogany body is equipped with the traditional weight relief system and is topped with the two-piece maple cap. Depending on the color scheme, Les Paul Peace comes with a plain maple top, or a flamed maple top. Mellow Out Green, Harmonius Sunset and Serenity Sunrise have flamed, while the Peaceful Orange, Placid Purple and Tranquility Blue Burst have plain maple tops. Also, all six color options come with the new perimeter style of burst. On the bound top, Gibson installs the classic two-piece bridge unit, consisting of a chrome-plated tune-o-matic bridge in the front and also chrome-plated stoptail bar in the back.On the other end, on the headstock, Gibson opts for a not-so-1960s feature, the hyper modern digital Min-E-Tune tuning system. In cooperation with the traditional bridge unit, Min-E-Tunes keep the Les Paul Peace intonation and tuning in perfect check. Pickups installed on this model are Gibson`s vintage-sounding 61 humbuckers. These cool cats offer the raw and powerful tone with truck loads of sustain. Simple and straightforward controls unit contains two volume knobs, two tone knobs and a three-way toggle pickup switch. Mahogany neck rocks the asymmetrical 1960s slim taper contour (thicker on the bass side and thinner on the treble side). On it`s top, there is a standard 22-fret fingerboard with cryogenically tempered frets, figured acrylic trapezoid inlays, 12" radius and 1.695" wide Tektold string nut. The MSRP for this model is set at pretty average (considering it is a Gibson USA Les Paul) $2,779.
