Les Paul '60s Tribute is a model dedicated to Les Paul and his immeasurable contribution yo yhe world of electric guitar. Year 2013 will be dedicated to him and Gibson is now overhauling the entire catalog for the celebrations next year. One of the novelties for 2013 is this '60s Tribute. It is one of the affordable tribute models which are dedicated to different periods and innovations in Les Paul`s work. Thus the '60s Tribute kicks off with a classic wood combination, weight relieved mahogany is paired with carved maple top. This combination brought up many generations of guitarists and was dominant on the '60s models. Carved top is made of two pieces of maple, as it is tradition since the first LP in 1950s. There is no binding and the pickguard is omitted, as well. Bridge section is also a classic one, it contains Tonepros tune-o-matic bridge in the front with a stoptail bar in the back. Bridge is, like the rest of the hardware, plated in chrome. Even though this one is considered a budget-friendly LP and many decorative appointments are scratched off the specs list, Gibson takes care of the sound with style. Slightly overwound Burstbucker 2 in the bridge and Burstbucker 1 in the neck position bring that big, fat tone LPs are known and loved for. These are controlled through separate volume and tone knobs and a three-way toggle pickup switch. Neck on this model is made of solid mahogany and it`s equipped with a standard '60s slim contour on the back side. This set-in neck is finished in satin and topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. Acrylic trapezoid inlays, 12" radius and 1-11/16" wide corian nut complete the fingerboard. Headstock is equipped with a set of kidney bean tuners, which can optionally be changed for the set of robotic tuners.
