Les Paul Future Tribute is one of four Tribute models dedicated to Les Paul. These are made for 2013, which Gibson celebrates as the year of Les Paul. Thus, these models are made to honor different periods and stages of his work and innovations. These models come with affordable prices and stripped down looks, offering only bare essentials of the periods they salute. All feature different pickup sets to get closer to the distinct tones their role models had. Les Paul `50s Tribute has P-90s, `60s Tribute is equipped with PAF-styled humbuckers, `70s Tribute has Dirty Fingers open coil pickups and Future Tribute has zebra `57 Classics. Bridge pickup is overwound for extra hot and punchy sound. The pickups as a pair produce vintage tone with modern articulation. Separate volume and tone knobs are accompanied by a three-way toggle pickup switch. Bridge section on this model is a standard one, it features a tune-o-matic bridge in the front and stoptail bar in the back. These are made by Tonepros and are plated in chrome. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and it sports a modern contour. It is carved asymmetrically to better fit in player`s hand and give him both a better grip and enabling him to move faster up and down the frets. On top of this set-in neck Gibson installs a rosewood fingerboard. 22 medium jumbo frets, figured acrylic trapezoid inlays, 12" radius and 1-11/16" corian nut complete the fingerboard. Body on this model is made of the same materials as bodies on other three Tribute guitars. Mahogany is, this time, equipped with a modern pattern of weight relief chambers. Top cover is made of plain maple and it`s carved. Color palette for this model is a standard Tribute palette with Wine Red, Ebony, Gold Top and Vintage Sunburst. The MSRP is also a standard one, it`s set at $1,599.
