Les Paul '50s Tribute is a model made for the upcoming 2013 and celebrations dedicated to Les Paul. In honor of the year of Les Paul, Gibson overhauled and reshaped entire Les Paul line from top to bottom. All models are refreshed with new color schemes and optional robotic tuners. Some of the budget-friendly models also have optional gold hardware. This particular LP is a vintage-styled guitar with minimalistic design and huge P-90 tone. Atmosphere, feel, looks and tone of the 1950s Les Pauls is the aim for this one. Every single of these goals is nailed completely, starting with the body made of weight-relieved mahogany back and two-piece maple top. Top panel is carved and free of binding and pickguard. Weight relief chambers are strategically distributed around the body to enhance the tone and help player with the reduced weight of the body. Bridge section installed on '50s Tribute is equipped with a standard pair, which consists of tune-o-matic bridge in the front and stoptail bar in the back. These two are, as the rest of the hardware is, plated in chrome. Pickups for "50s Tribute model are P-90 single coils, the only right combination, considering that the humbuckers did not exist until the late 1950s, when Les Paul was already established as an icon. These two are controlled through a standard LP electronics unit, consisting of two volume and two tone pots. Also, there`s a three-way toggle pickup switch. NEck on this model is made of mahogany and it`s equipped with a period-correct '50s rounded profile. Sixty years later and it is still one of the better neck contour choices. Rosewood fingerboard on the top is equipped with a set of 22 medium jumbo frets, acrylic trapezoid inlays, 12" radius and 1-11/16" corian nut. Wine Red, Vintage Sunburst, Gold Top and Ebony color options are available and all come finished in satin. Headstock is equipped with a set of six kidney bean tuners, though for a little extra money, they can be replaced by robotic tuners.
