In 2016, Gibson USA catalog will deal very seriously with non-Junior models under $1,000 mark. Six of them will be introduced at NAMM Show - four Les Pauls and two SGs. Les Paul `60s Tribute 2016T costs $899 and is one of two tributes in traditional lineup (the other one is `50s LP). It offers a set of aggressive single-coil pickups, historically accurate color schemes, vintage-modern construction (`60s neck and modern weight relief) and vintage looks.
Les Paul `60s Tribute 2016T comes with a chambered mahogany body with a solid maple top. Burst color schemes have flamed maple tops, while the Satin Ebony rocks the classic plain maple cap. White plastics and lack of binding complete the minimalistic vibe. Slim taper-contoured neck is made of one piece of solid mahogany and is topped with a one-piece fingerboard made of rosewood (1.695" TekToid nut, trapezoid inlays, medium jumbo frets, 12" radius).
Gibson USA P-90 pickups would better suit the $100 cheaper `50s Tribute, but are a nice twist on this `60s story. Raw and hot power of the bridge pickup and bass-saturated neck pickup make up for a fantastic classic rock combo. Two-piece bridge, Grover green key tuners, adjustable truss rod and vintage headstock complete this six-string marvel.
Les Paul `60s Tribute 2016T is bound to make many a classic rock fans happy, and keep them happy for a long, long time. All a rock player needs is there, Gibson`s genuine build quality, monster tone and classic LP playability and feel. With $899 price tag, it is a steal.
