Les Paul is one of the most iconic guitars ever made and it`s legacy spreads far beyond the rock music. And, it has been six full decades since the first Les Paul guitar was made by Gibson. Today, Gibson USA are celebrating this historical moment with the Les Paul 60th Anniversary Limited issue. This model is the most accurate replica of the original Les Paul up to this date. A few details had to be changed, like the style of wrapping the strings around the bridge. The original had them wrapped from beneath, which is now changed to the regular wrapping from the top. To be historically correct Gibson installed a wrap around bridge with trapezoid tail piece. Body of this model is made of mahogany without modern weight relief chambers, so it is one heavy axe. Carved top is made of maple and bound in creme binding. In the pickups department Gibson installs a pair of P-90 pickups with soapbar housing. They have alnico II magnets and solid, fat tone. They are controlled through split volume and tone knobs with a three-way toggle pickup switch. Neck is made of mahogany and it features period-accurate thick back contour. It is topped with a 22 fret fingerboard made of rosewood. Trapezoid inlays, 12" radius and 1.695" wide corian nut complete the fingerboard. The MSRP for this model is set at $3,899.
