Electromatic series is one of the most important series of hollow-bodied electric guitars on the entire market. It contains a multitude of models primarily oriented towards rock `n` roll and rockabilly, though they can be utilized for a wide variety of genres and styles. For 2012, Gretsch made seven new models, of which, G5422TCDG is one. It comes with a standard double cutaway body with set-in neck joint. It is only available in snow white color with high gloss urethane finish. This is matched with gold-plated hardware and white binding. Body of this model is made of five layers of maple and it comes with arched top. Top panel is carved with a pair of "f" holes and equipped with an elevated pickguard. Bridge section is composed of two elements, rosewood-based adjust-o-matic bridge in the front and trapezoid tailpiece with Bigsby vibrato in the back. Pickups on this model are Filtertron humbuckers in both the bridge and neck positions. Controls for them include master volume, master tone, bridge volume and neck volume knobs. Pickup switch is a three-way toggle. Neck is made of maple and it is topped with a rosewood fingerboard. 22 medium jumbo frets, 1-11/16" wide string nut and humpblock inlays complete the fingerboard.
