Vector is Hamer`s take on the legendary Flying V concept. The original V has been introduced back in 1950s and it was so far ahead of anything produced then, that it was promptly discontinued, not to be brought back into full service for almost 20 years. Today, the V is one of the reigning body contours on the market and Hamer`s Vectors have several decades long tradition. This Vector is situated in the XT segment, which caters to the budget-friendly section of the market. Body of this V-shaped six-stringer is solid, flat and made of alder and paired with maple neck. Two piece bridge section on this one is fronted by a pair of Hamer humbuckers. Maple neck is topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.

My Hamer Vector is NOTHING like the version they're selling nowadays. It's a 1982 model, creme white over its mahogany body and neck; has a pair of DiMarzio pickups from the factory which are wired to individual volumes and a master tone control that when turned fully down gives me that "cocked wah" tone that shaped my entire "younger" super heavy sound; a 22 fret rosewood fretboard and "standard" Hamer headstock (not the V style currently used); and instead of the classic V style tailpiece/Tune-o-matic bridge, it has the classic original Hamer Sustainer bridge (string through body, SOLID block of chrome steel). This guitar has been my choice metal weapon since 1986, when I got it for $225 due to the creme white nitrocellulose lacquer finish being checked, cracked and "ugly" as the guy at the store put it. As it was, I had the very first relic'ed guitar, about 25 years before relic'ing became a thing! This guitar is lightning fast, sounds HUGE, will sustain and hold a note FOREVER as well as blast out staccato notes at blazing inhuman speed, and feels like a part of me when I play it. I basically stole this guitar at the height of my metal career in the mid to late 80s, and it has remained with me ever since...another "desert island" guitar that will NEVER be sold!
