In the tradition of it`s best hollow bodied models, Ibanez keeps on bringing new models and series constantly raising the bar. AFJ81 is a new hollow-bodied model made just in time to be represented at 2012 NAMM show. AFJ81 starts off with a hollow single cutaway body made of spruce top and flame maple back and sides. Bound top and bound "f" holes adorn the arched top of this model along with the black pickguard. AFJ81 is available in sunset red color with gloss finish. The ART-W bridge is paired with a trapezoid tailpiece. It is, as all of the hardware on this model, plated with gold. There is only one pickup on AFJ81, and that is a humbucker in neck position. It is controlled through one volume and one tone control knob. The neck is made of three pieces of maple and mahogany with an Artcore contour and set-in joint. The rosewood fingerboard is equipped with 20 frets and block inlays. The MSRP for this model is set at $691.
