AS series offers modern approach to jazz guitar with semi-hollow construction and modern electronics. Five models comprised the series roster for a long time. But, now Ibanez introduces the sixth one and it`s a second lefty. This time it is AS53 left handed variant. It comes with a semi-hollow body with set neck joint construction. Body is made of sapele back, sides and sound board. This gives an interesting tone to AS53, especially if mahogany neck is considered. Body is available only in Tobacco Flat color option with satin finish. Top panel is bound in creme and equipped with a pair of "f" holes. There is no pickguard on this semi-acoustic. Bridge section is a standard one, as it contains a tune-o-matic/stoptail bar combo, which is in Ibanez dictionary named ART2 bridge with tailpiece. Pickups on AS53L are ACH humbuckers made by Ibanes. They come with master volume, master tone and three-way toggle pickup switch. Simplicity and functionality are paramount principles in AS53 design. Neck is made of mahogany and it is set-in. Artcore profile and satin finish complete the neck. Rosewood fingerboard is equipped with 22 medium frets, dot position inlays, 12" radius and 1.69" wide string nut. Scale is 24-3/4" long and hardware is plated in chrome.
