Artcore is a line of hollow-bodied electric guitars with vintage styling and tone. These guitars aim at the intermediate class of the market and are made primarily for players who seek versatile hollow-bodies at a reasonable price. Due to their design and construction (maple dominates the construction) these six-stringers (and a few seven-stringers) feel best in jazz waters, though blues, funk, soul and some lighter rock variants can be pulled off. AS73 is being updated and refreshed for 2014. It comes with a double-cut body with arched back and top and classic set in neck joint. Body is entirely made of maple and is paired with a mahogany neck (one of the most standard combos in Ibanez Artcore series). Maple provides the snap and clear mids, while the mahogany gives it power and softens the response a little bit. On the top, modern two-piece bridge unit is installed. In it`s front, Ibanez installs the now standard pair of passive ACH humbuckers. Split volume and tone knobs and a three-way toggle pickup switch are featured in the controls unit. Mahogany neck is fit with the Artcore contour in the back and is topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays.
