408 is one of the most interesting concepts featured in PRS catalog. The name 408 stands for four coils and eight coil combinations which are available through two mini-switches. Premium features and Core series color palette are also available for this model.
Core series 408 kicks off with a double-cut Custom body, set-neck construction and 25" scale. Core construction features include a solid mahogany body base, carved maple top (figured maple, creme binding, classic contour), mahogany neck (glued to the body, Pattern profile) and rosewood fingerboard (22 jumbo frets, bird inlays, 25" scale).
Special 408 pickups, with special coil-splitting switches, are installed in the bridge and neck positions. Master volume and tone knobs and three-way pickup switch complete the controls unit. Major hardware appointments include Gen III Trem bridge and Phase III locking tuners.
