Schecter`s Solo concept is base on one of the most popular and most recognizable body shapes ever, the one and only Les Paul. Together with Fender`s Telecaster, Les Paul holds the banner of single-cut guitars for over six decades, now. After the huge success in the 1950s, a decline in 1960s and resurgence in 1970s, Les Paul has become one of the common body shapes, available for all the brands around the world to use. Solo models made by Schecter are among the most successful guitars based on the LP design ever. Usually, Solo models are made for hard rock and metal styles, though some of the Solo variants are oriented more towards rock and blues. Brand new Solo-6 Special made for the spring 2014 is a nod to the old school Les Paul Special models and has pretty much the same role in the Solo series lineup. It comes with a solid and single-cut body made of korina wood (korina was hugely popular back in the 1950s, until it was replaced by mahogany due to the economic reasons) and a set in neck, also made of korina. This type of construction gives the flat-top Solo-6 Special a great base for a strong, warm tone with a ton of sustain. On the top of the body, Schecter installs a one-piece stoptail wrap around bridge with six saddles and chrome plating. This marvel is available only in Korina Yellow color with gloss finish and chrome-plated hardware. Instead of one (Les Paul Special and Junior models mostly feature one pickup in the bridge position), it has two pickups. Both the bridge and neck pickup are minibuckers made by Seymour Duncan. Two volume knobs, one tone knob with a push/pull switch and a three-way toggle pickup selector comprise the controls unit. Neck on this model is equipped with a fast and smooth thin C contour in the back. Ultra access cutaway enables easy access to the 22nd fret, making this Solo-6 a dream to play. On the top of the neck, Schecter installs a 22-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. It`s extra jumbo-sized frets are marked with elegant MOP Split Crown inlays. Instead of Gibson`s standard 12", Solo-6 Special`s fingerboard has a 14" radius. Tuners on the headstock are the standard Schecter locking tuners with chrome plating. The MSRP for this model is set at reasonable $699.
