LTD EC-1 is a hybrid between the classic Eclipse (LTD EC) and Traveler Guitar concepts. it might seem a bit uncanny, but this interesting alliance has worked out mighty fine. The new LTD EC-1 is marketed as a true Traveler guitar with full on ESP taste.
The body of this six-string marvel is solid (save for the tuning machine holes in their traditional Traveler places), single-cut and made of mahogany. Currently, EC-1 is only available in white with cream/black binding and black hardware. Both Traveler and LTD logos are featured between the bass and treble tuner openings.
The neck is made of mahogany and features a slim, fast contour in the back characteristic of thoroughbred ESP and LTD models. With four bolts and a slightly modified shape, neck plate also features LTD logo. Traveler`s tested and proven ebonized rosewood fingerboard sits on the top. This time, it has 22 jumbo-sized frets, LTD`s recognizable flag inlays (pearloid), 1-5/8" wide string nut and a standard radius.
Electronics have always been Traveler`s forte and this time it`s no different. EC-1 rocks a full-sized LTD Designed ALH200B active pickup in bridge position. Mighty humbucker delivers full on metal tone for all the roaming metalheads out there. Built in headphone amp has clean, boost, overdrive and distortion modes, traditional headphone and aux jacks, as well as a standard 1/4" jack.
LTD EC-1 also comes with a padded gig bag which is considerably smaller and lighter than a full-sized guitar case (31-1/2" long compared to standard 45" long case and ~7lb of weight versus ~15ib). With a price tag of $599 this headless rocker is an absolute steal. It is now available for pre-order on Traveler`s site.
