With a set of seven six-shooters and one four-stringed bass, Tombstone aims to claim the sheriff badge in the intermediate class of the market.
The size and scope of the celebration should mirror the size of the jubilee it marks and four decades in guitar business is a pretty big one. Accordingly, ESP has renovated the catalog in both the ESP and LTD segments. Unveiled at 2015 NAMM, numerous novelties and updates take on every segment and class of the market with renewed vigor and strength. In the process of revitalization and rejuvenation LTD received the stunning Tombstone series of acoustic electric guitars. The seven-piece party of the smoking intermediate class six shooters is accompanied by a lone Stringfield long range bass. Top tier of the Tombstone line is reserved for the epic GL-J2E with Tobacco Sunburst color scheme, cow skull inlay at the 12th fret and to class electronics. The sheriff of the Tombstone town has three deputies – A-430E, D-430E and J-430E. A-300E, J310-E and D-320E form the series basic tier. JB-320E is actually in the same class as the 430 six-stringers, as it features the same hardware, decorations, tonewoods and electronics.
The top spot of the review section rightfully belongs to the six- of the LTD Tombstone town, the magnificent GL-J2E six-shooter. It comes with a full-sized non-cutaway jumbo body and a standard steel-stringer neck attached at the 14th fret. Flamed maple/spruce body is equipped with the high quality Fishman pickup/preamp system and rocks the Tobacco Sunburst color scheme. Gold-plated tuners and 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with a cow skull inlay as its center piece complete the western theme in a great style. For further info, check the GL-J2E detail page on our site or ESP Guitars official web page.
Moving onto the deputy tier, we first find the second of three jumbo guitars - J-430E. This is a beautiful single-cut jumbo with rosewood/spruce body and active Fishman electronics. As its 430 level brethren, J430E is an excellent example of a working musician`s acoustic-electric, as it can handle the practice duties with equal grace as composing, recording and performing duties. For further info, check the J-430E detail page on our site or ESP Guitars official web page.
A-430E also belongs to the 430 line and features the highly standardized set of appointments. It is a single-cut auditorium guitar with rosewood/spruce body, mahogany neck and rosewood bridge and fingerboard. Also, the Fishman Sonicore pickup and Isys+ preamp are featured in the electronics department. Glossy natural color, abalone decorations and gold-plated tuning machines complete this intermediate class auditorium. For further info, check the A-430E detail page on our site or ESP Guitars official web page.
With the elegant D-430E Tombstone`s intermediate trio is completed. Like its 430 class siblings, this single-cut dread features a rosewood/spruce body, mahogany neck with the traditional 14th fret joint, Fishman electronics (Sonicore pickup w/ Isys+ preamp), regular 20-fret rosewood fingerboard with diamond inlays and gold-plated LTD tuners. Like the previous two models, this one comes in natural color with discreet abalone binding, rosette and inlays. For further info, check the D-430E detail page on our site or ESP Guitars official web page.
Unlike the uniformed 430 tier, 300 features a bit of variety. D-320E, for example, comes with a mahogany/cedar body, as opposed to the mahogany/spruce combo featured on other two models. Electronics are, however uniform and B-Bands transducer pickup and T-35 preamp are the standard. Mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard on top is also a standard feature for 300 models. For further info, check the D-320E detail page on our site or ESP Guitars official web page.
300 model which follows the aesthetic standard set by 430 models, J-310E comes in as the second of three 300 guitars. Mahogany/spruce body is fit with the standard B-Band electronics unit (electret film transducer pickup and T-35 preamp with an on-board tuner) and a fixed rosewood bridge. Mahogany neck with a standard rosewood fingerboard and black-clad LTD tuners complete the major specs list. For further info, check the J-310E detail page on our site or ESP Guitars official web page.
The six-string segment of the Tombstone series ends with the basic A-300E model. It is a single-cut auditorium guitar with mahogany/spruce body, mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard on top and B-Band electronics. This is the only model in the entire series to start off as an all-black guitar. Body, headstock and the back of the neck are painted black. Even the LTD tuners are plated in black. For further info, check the A-300E detail page on our site or ESP Guitars official web page.
The review section ends with the only four-stringer of the Tombstone range – the deceptive JB-320E. Though nominally belonging to the 300 tier, it features a very clever mix of 300 (tonewood selection, natural satin color scheme and decorations) and 430 features (Fishman Sonicore pickup/Isys+ preamp system, bone saddle & nut). This long range four-stringer is the only Tombstone model with ovangkol back and sides. For further info, check the JB-320E detail page on our site or ESP Guitars official web page.
