Applause is the subsidiary brand of the world renowned brand, Ovation. It is sort of an Epiphone-Gibson relationship where Applause caters to the lower sections of the market with guitars based upon the models from Ovation catalog. AE13 is the opening model of the AE series and it comes with a single cutaway construction with set neck joint. Body is made of composite back and sides with a spruce top. Composite materials are used for backs and sides on Ovation and Applause models for decades now and they provide as much tonal quality as wooden bodies. Bridge on this model is made of rosewood, while the neck is made of maple. Fingerboard is also made of rosewood and it comes with 20 frets and small dot inlays, as well as side dot markers.
