AC40 is an opening model of Carvin`s acoustic-electric series of basses. It comes with a semi-hollow body equipped with a modern double cutaway design. The neck on this model runs through the body, thus making this bass a semi-hollow. The body is made of mahogany back and sides with a solid Engelmann spruce top. Other tops, such as flamed or quilted maple and many others are also available as alternatives. Neck is made of mahogany which, along with the body, gives fantastic support for L.R. Baggs ribbon transducer. It comes with volume, bass and treble control knobs. Bridge on this model is made of ebony and it features a TUSQ saddle. Fingerboard is also made of ebony and it is equipped with 24 medium jumbo frets, block inlays and 1.62" wide string nut.
