AXS Dreadnought Mahogany is an all-mahogany version of the series` opening model - AXS Dreadnought. These two have the same price tag ($179) and the same specs list, save for the top material. Whereas the basic AXS Dreadnought rocks the laminated spruce soundboard, this black-clad beauty comes with a mahogany top (this results in a slightly darker tone on the all-mahogany model). Other than that, there`s no difference between the specs lists of these two super affordable dreads. AXS Dreadnought Mahogany is a non-cutaway dreadnought guitar with full-sized body and full-length scale (25-1/2"). The only color scheme available is Gloss Black with white binding areund the top, back and fingerboard. Just like its AXS brethren, this dread features no sound hole rosette. The neck is, of course, made of mahogany. It features a 14th fret dovetail joint and a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard. 20 jumbo-sized frets, plastic string nut and dot inlays complete the fingerboard. There are no electronics installed on this one, no preamps, no mics, no pickups - it is made for purely acoustic play. $179 will get you a decent sounding and a decent playing dreadnought perfect for learning and practicing duties.
