Zenith Classic belongs to the newly formed Masterbilt Century collection. It is Epiphone`s brand new modern/vintage archtop series, aimed at players who want the authentic sound of 1930s archtop acoustic guitar, or at least something different than run of the mill flat-top steel-stringer. Zenith Classic has a medium-sized body (De Luxe and De Luxe Classic have big bodies, Olympic has small body). Some of the series` standard features found on Zenith Classic, include: modern, custom-designed electronics (Shadow/eSonic), 25-1/2" scale, longitudinal bracing and historic hardware. Zenith Classic costs pretty reasonable $739 (both color options). Zenith Classic is a non-cutaway guitar with arched top and glued-in neck. Back and sides are made of laminated flamed maple, while the top is made of solid spruce (all five models have the same tonewoods combo). The neck is made of five pieces of hard maple and mahogany; it has a rounded C profile in the back and a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. Shadow`s NanoFlex under-saddle pickup and eSonic HD preamp are very stealthily installed, to preserve the overall vintage theme. Floating bridge, dual-action truss rod and vintage Epiphone tuners complete the specs list.
