Takamine is Japan`s premier acoustics brand, as well as one of the world`s leading companies in this field. Their catalog is divided into two main sections, the affordable G section and exclusive Pro Series. Within the Pro Series, Takamine features several lines of upscale steel-stringers with both the fully acoustic and acoustic-electric construction. Limited Editions series is home to the top-of-the-line steel-stringers. These models feature custom shop-level of craftsmanship and each model has a unique theme, as well as unique design. Limited Editions modles come in very limited numbers. For 2014, Takamine has introduced the LTD2014 Grouse model. It is a slope-shoulder dreadnought with single-cut design and exclusive Takamine electronics. Body of this mind-blowing dreadnought is made of flamed maple and spruce. Solid flame maple is in the back, laminated flame maple on the sides and solid spruce is on the top. Ivoroid binding with abalone purfling and rosette around the sound hole give a super elegant contrast to the Transparent Black Burst color of the body and the neck. Electronics installed on this model include the famous CT4DX preamp mounted on the side and Palathetic pickup installed underneath the saddle of the bridge. Besides the standard volume and equalizer controls and the on-board tuner, preamp features a pickup blender in case the owner decides to install one more pickup. Bridge on the top is the only major part made of rosewood on this model. It sports the classic bridge contour and is topped with a two-piece saddle made of bone. Neck is made of mahogany; it`s attached to the body at the 12th, instead of the standard 14th fret. Nevertheless, ebony fingerboard on it`s top has a standard set of 20 frets. Fingerboard inlays on this astonishing six-stringer are custom designed for this model. They represent the Japanese Grouse, the bird symbol of Takamine`s home province of Gifu. Grouse lives in the Hida mountains, which Takamine Guitars consider their ancestral home. Only 52 LTD2014 Grouse guitars will be made; all will have a certificate of authenticity signed by Takamine`s president.
