Quilted Sapele series is a line of acoustic-electric guitars made for the Fall 2012 issue of Limited Edition. Taylor`s Limited Editions are frequently based on already existing series in standard section of the catalog, and sometimes they are completely new and original. In both cases, only master piece guitars are allowed in the Limiteds section. One of them is DNce-FLTD, a single cut dreadnought made of quilted sapele back and sides and European spruce top. Quilted sapele is very rare and has a unique set of tonal properties with strong and warm low end. European spruce is as strong as Adirondack and leans a little bit towards the cedar, regarding the tone. Top panel is bound in ivoroid and equipped with a single circle rosette. Pickguard is scratched from the specs list of this dreadnought. Bridge is a standard one and it is made of ebony. Bone saddle is combined with ebony string pins. Electronics is, as always, made and installed by Taylor. Expression system rules the acoustic-electric side of the catalog. Neck is made of tropical mahogany and it is attached to the body with a regular 14th fret dovetail joint. On the opposite side, headstock is joined with a scarf joint. Fingerboard is made of ebony and it comes with 20 frets with solitaire inlays. String nut is made of bone and it is 1-3/4" wide. 25-1/2" scale and gold-plated Gotoh tuners wrap the specs list. MSRP for this model is set at $4,298.
