DS1 is the opening model of the DS series, a line of slope-shoulder dreadnoughts with necks connected at the 12th fret. DS1 comes with a non-cutaway body made of mahogany back and sides with spruce top. The top is adorned with tortoise binding, tortoise pickguard and black & white sound hole rosette. Bracing pattern applied here is Collings standard feature, it`s prewar scalloped one. The bridge is made of ebony and it also comes with a set of standard Collings features: belly shape, ebony string pins and bone saddle. The neck is made of mahogany and, as the series name says, it is attached to the body at the 12th fret. Ebony fingerboard is, however, still equipped with 20 frets. Dot position inlays, 1-1/16" bone saddle, 25-1/2" scale and nickel plated Waverly tuners complete the specs.
