HZ series in Hofner catalog is dedicated to the production of classical acoustic guitars and is made up of five models. HZ 23 is the basic model of the line and it serves as the entry level guitar for HZ. Body of H 23 is made of mahogany back and sides with cedar sound board on top. Top panel is equipped with creme binding and standard classical rosette. Natural color of the wood is covered only with thin layer of satin finish. hardware installed on this model is plated in gold. Bridge section sports a standard shaped bridge made of rosewood. Neck on HZ23 is made of mahogany. It is quite common for manufacturers to match the back and side wood with neck for better balance in tone. Rosewood fingerboard sports regular 19 frets with no inlays.
