AEF models are the biggest acoustics and acoustic-electrics in the entire Ibanez catalog. The size of these six and twelve-stringers in combination with cleverly made AEF body shape and bracing on the inside gives a super strong and super clear tone, perfect for big gigs and playing out in the open. The size may prove to be a bit of a down side, if the players are accustomed to playing electrics, or are of a smaller frame and have shorter arms. For 2014, Ibanez has introduced only one update for the famous AEF line, the twelve-stringed AEF1512E. This is an acoustic-electric guitar with single-cut body, 25-1/2" scale and modern neck and fingerboard measures. Body is made of the mahogany (back/sides) and spruce (sound-board). On the top, there is the standard rosewood bridge with an under-saddle Ibanez pickup. Electronics section is completed with a side-mounted SPT Shape Shifter preamp with equalizer and tuner. mahogany neck has the standard 14th fret dovetail joint and a comfortable back contour. 21-fret fingerboard on it`s top is made of rosewood.
