GS5 is the basic model of the GS series of acoustic guitars made by Taylor. All models are fully acoustic and equipped with non-cutaway bodies. This model is a twelve-stringed variant of the GS5 and it comes made of same materials and equipped with same aesthetic appointments. It is available only in natural color with high gloss finish. Taylor tuners with golden plating complement this appearance. Back and side panels on this model are made of mahogany, while the top is made of cedar. Cedar is the most popular on nylon-stringers and spruce on acoustics with steel strings. However, recently more and more steel-stringed models feature cedar tops and vice versa. Belly shaped bridge is made of ebony and mahogany neck is topped with a 20-fret fingerboard made of ebony.
