Gold Label series is regarded by Hofner as a sort of custom shop or custom division, similar to Fender`s Custom Shop and Gibson`s Custom division. Main feature of this series is that it only deals with supremely luxurious guitars and basses from Hofner`s lines. High level of customization and limited numbers are also some of the traits of this series. For 2013 Hofner introduces five new models into this series and Violin Bass is one of them. It comes with a classic violin-shaped body with set neck construction. There`s no center block inside the body of this 30"-scaled bass. Body is made of the finest flamed maple back and sides with solid spruce sound board on top. Top panel is bound and arched. Black color with gloss finish is the only color scheme available for this model. Classic bridge section setup includes a fixed bridge in the front with a trapezoid tailpiece in the back. A blast from the past is featured in the pickups department, for it re-introduces Toaster single coil pickups, which were used only on 1960 Violin Bass. Flamed maple neck is set and it`s topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.
