GIO section of the Ibanez catalog is there to house all the beginner and lower intermediate guitars and basses. GIO models fare really well on the market and are among the financially more successful Ibanez ranges. The purpose behind this range is to offer the beginners and inexperienced players affordable, yet quality instruments to practice and learn on. Bass side of the GIO range is made up of several series and for 2014, Ibanez has introduced several GSR models. GSR205SM is one of them. It comes with a solid and flat-top body made of mahogany back and spalted maple top. It is a double-cut five-stringer with a bolt-on maple neck, passive electronics and standard 34" scale. B15 bridge is installed on the top; it`s a hardtail bridge clad in black. In the front, Ibanez installs a pair of DXH-5 humbuckers. Two volume knobs (which act as a pickup switch), master tone and the PHAT II EQ knob comprise the controls. Maple neck is fit with the fast and smooth GSR contour in the back and is topped with the series standard 22-fret fingerboard made of rosewood.
