SR series, or Sound Gear, has been the perfect testing ground for the examinations of the limits of a modern bass guitar in past 25 years. At the very beginning, this series parted ways with traditional Fender, Gibson and Rickenbacker concepts and made a revolution. Basses have since evolved exponentially, becoming a lot more player-friendly instruments. SR series rode the wave of the revolution, always staying on top and managing to constantly raise the bar in the price/delivery ratio segment. For 2015, the Limited Edition section of the SR range is being quipped with a beautiful SR5BBLTD model. It is a solid-bodied and double-cut five-stringer with a sharp SR design and modern electronics and construction. Ash base and buckeye burl top form the body, while the five pieces of wenge and bubinga comprise the bolt-in neck. Five-saddled Monorail bridge is featured on the gorgeous burled top. In front of it, Ibanez installs a pair of big, passive Nordstrand soapbar pickups with buckeye burl wood covers. Master volume, balance pot, three-piece EQ, EQ on/off switch and mid frequency switch complete the controls unit. Fast and smooth neck rocks the famous Atlas 5 profile in the back and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. Oval abalone inlays, gold-plated tuners and 1.77" wide TUSQ nut complete the specs list.
