Sound Gear, popularly known as SR, is the cornerstone series of Ibanez` bass segment. It`s been around for over 25 years and has gone through countless changes, modifications and innovations. SR picks up the banner once again and leads Ibanez charge into new territories. This born ground breaker brings fanned frets and compound scales into Ibanez catalog. SRFF805 belongs to the basic SR series and takes the regular 805 as its starting point. Basic mahogany/poplar burl body has been ditched in favor of the barren ash body and flashy color palette`s been substituted by more suitable and intricate Black Stain and Walnut Flat. Trademark SR top contour is still there. Jatoba and bubinga neck is a fast and smooth five-piece with SRFF profile in the back and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. 24 fanned frets , slanted string nut and block inlays comprise the super modern fingerboard. Thanks to the slanted position of the Monorail bridge on the opposite end, scale length fluctuates between 35.5" on the low B string and 34" on the high G string. The end result is livelier, more open tone, though it definitely takes a little time and effort to get used to. Electronics department swaps Bartolini`s MK-1 pups for BH1 slanted humbuckers with a three-band EQ and three-way frequency switch (250MHz, 450MHz and 750MHz). Five-piece Monorail bridge and modern die-cast tuners make sure this multi-scale beast stays in perfect tune through long hours in studio or on stage.
