Charvel`s Desolation series boasts five shapes with fifteen models. Five of these were unveiled at NAMM Show this January in Anaheim, Ca. This line is oriented towards metalheads who don`t have big bucks to spend on a guitar, but still demand quality for the money they give. DST-1 FR is the top model of newly introduced Star shape in Desolation series. It has a mahogany body with an optional maple top for selected range of colors. Otherwise, top is flat, unbound and has no pickguards. Black and snow white have gloss finish and plain tops. Transparent black, transparent red and transparent blue smear have maple tops and gloss finishes. The bridge is a recessed Floyd Rose double locking tremolo with a locking string nut. Pickups on this model are legendary EMG 81 in the bridge and 85 in the neck. Controls for them consist of a master volume and a three-way toggle switch. The neck is made of maple with neck-through construction. The fingerboard is made of rosewood and features 24 jumbo sized frets with abalone sharktooth inlays, 1-11/16" plastic string nut and composite 12-16" radius. 25-1/2" scale and black nickel hardware complete the specs. The MSRP for black and snow white options is set at $799.99. Variants with transparent colors cost $933.32.
